Disc Manager - Fast Find

Operation: Inserting and ejecting discs

Why can't I insert a disc into the Disc Manager 100?

If the Disc Manager 100 gate appears to be blocked and you are unable
to insert a disc into the unit, check the following:

  • Check the LED light next to the Disc Manager 100 gate. When the unit is full, the LED flashes slowly and the Disc Manager 100 blocks its gate to prevent additional discs from being loaded.
  • Make sure the OpdiTracker software is running, and that the OpdiTracker icon is displayed in your taskbar.
  • Check the unit in Explorer. If the status is not "Active", then investigate why it is Inactive, locked or in an error state
(see relevant information in Help file).

Why wasn't the disc I inserted into the Disc Manager 100 gate drawn into the unit?

Check the LED light next to the Disc Manager 100 gate to determine the unit's operation status.

If the LED is off:
The Disc Manager 100 is not ready. Make sure it is properly connected to your computer, and that the OpdiTracker software is running.

If the LED is flashing:

This is caused by the following conditions:

  • Upon initial installation of the OpdiTracker software onto your computer, and connection of the Disc Manager 100 unit to same computer via the USB cable provided, you must first re-boot your computer. The LED light should be constantly lit before inserting discs.
  • The unit is full. Check the unit's properties to make sure it has vacant slots.
  • The unit is busy. Allow time for the current operation to complete.
  • The OpdiTracker software is not running. Start OpdiTracker either from the Windows Start button, or by navigating to it through Windows Explorer.
  • The unit is in error. If there are vacant slots in the unit and the LED continues to flash, view the error details to determine what action to take.

If the LED is on:
This means that the unit is properly connected. If a unit with avaliable slots annot reconise a disc upon insertion, try the following:

  • Turn the disc over so that the label faces the opposite direction.
  • If the disc is transparent or has no markings, fix a label to the non-data side of the disc.

Why did nothing happen when I selected to eject a disc?

Make sure the unit is ready (the LED next to the gate is solidly lit), and then retry ejecting. Check that the status of the disc is "Stored" in Explorer.
If this fails, close and restart the OpdiTracker software. If this also fails, restart your computer.

Why did the wrong disc come out when I ejected a specific title?

Create a Disc Titles report to determine the slot where the disc you are looking for is stored. Then verify the unit, and select to verify only the slot that contains the disc you require. (See the online help for full instructions.)

If that slot is empty, or if another incorrect disc is ejected, you should verify the entire unit and correct any inconsistencies that exist between your database and the discs stored in the unit.

How do I eject a disc that is stored in my Disc Manager 100 but not recorded in the OpdiTracker database?

If a disc is in a unit but the database doesn't know it's there, disc jams can occur as the system tries to put another disc into what it believes to be an available slot (incorrectly). Follow these steps to remove any "lost" discs:

  • Right-click the unit name in OpdiTracker, and then choose Verify Unit from the list. This opens the Verify dialogue box.
  • Confirm the name of the unit from the drop-down list, and then click “ Next”.
  • Select Verify all slots and tick the Vacant box (de-select Occupied), and then click “Next”. The unit will move through each slot shown as empty in the database and eject any disc it finds.
  • Once the offending disc has been presented at the front gate, remove it from the unit. If you believe other "lost" discs may be present, allow the test to continue; otherwise click “Cancel”.
  • Once the report of the test results is presented to you, click “Finish”.

Why is the Eject option grayed out when I right-click a disc?

The Eject option is disabled for discs that are already ejected. If you believe the disc is in fact in the unit, run a Verify operation to make sure the database and the contents of the unit match.

This option is also disabled for units that are not currently communicating with the OpdiTracker software (e.g. those that are disconnected, or have lost USB connectivity for some reason).
